ARE COCKATIELS GOOD FOR APARTMENTS?

ARE COCKATIELS FRIENDLY?

Cockatiels make great first pets — feathered or otherwise.
They are extremely social and love spending time with their human flock mates. They clearly recognize their caretakers and are responsive to their voices.
CAN COCKATIELS TALK?
Cockatiels are more inclined to whistle than to talk. Male cockatiels are more likely to attempt talking than females, and some can learn to speak a few words or phrases. Cockatiels tend to chirp rather than screech, and their relatively lower noise volume makes them a good apartment pet.
Can cOCKATIELS be kept as one or NEED ANOTHER BIRDs company?

How to setup a cockatiel home
  • Cockatiels do well as pairs or in groups. Can be kept single if you have good time to spend with them.
  • Always try to place your cockatiel's cage in a living room or wherever they can be close to the family.
  • Choose a cage at least double the size of your cockatiel's wingspread, a minimum of 2ft x 1.5ft x 1.5ft.  Increase the cage size logically according to the number of birds you are going to keep together.
  • Your cockatiel's cage should include at least 1 perch. The perch may be of different heights, thickness and texture. These variations helps keeping your cockatiel's feet healthy.
  • Perches should not be directly placed above the bird's food or water bowl; droppings are likely to contaminate the food source.
  • Keep your cockatiel's cage away from the kitchen and away from windows where there are possible fumes are strong scent from elsewhere. Cockatiels are sensitive to strong smells, smoke and fumes.
  • Imported cages with tray systems are available with us which can keep the cage bottom clean as the droppings are not accessible to the birds. Spot clean the tray frequently and completely change the bedding sheet daily.
what do cockatiels eat
Cockatiels like any other birds, enjoy a range of foods, mixed bird seeds, vegetables, fruit and the occasional treat.
  • Most of the cockatiels base on different millet Seeds as staple food. Refresh it daily. Always empty the seed hulls from the food bowl.
  • Feeding leafy greens every alternative days are good for cockatiels.
  • Apple, banana or melon are few fruits which cockatiels eat.
  • Millet spray can be given to your cockatiels once or twice a week as a special treat.
  • Be sure your bird has access to fresh, clean water at all times.
